What makes a story impossible to stop listening to? Why are we so drawn to mysteries, investigations, and real-life stories of crime? Find out during the third session of Voices of Freedom: From Pamphlets to Podcasts, taking place on Wednesday, June 24th at 6:30 PM at the American Corner Novi Sad, where we’ll explore the phenomenon of the true crime boom and the power of storytelling in today’s media landscape.
Together, we’ll discuss how true crime uses suspense, emotion, and narrative techniques to capture audiences, how these stories shape the way we understand real events, and where we draw the line between public interest and entertainment. From podcasts and documentaries to social media discussions, we’ll look at how modern media transforms real stories into shared experiences and influences the way we think, react, and connect.
This interactive workshop series explores the evolution of communication and free expression — from revolutionary pamphlets, political cartoons, and speeches to today’s digital platforms. Through discussions, examples, and creative activities, participants examine how stories spread, how narratives shape society, and what responsibilities come with the freedom to share ideas.
Will you join the conversation?
